Hist.) a fixed quantity of labour to be performed by a person; (b) the work allotted as a duty to a specified person; (c) (now arch. & Sc.) a lesson to be learned or prepared; (d) Psychol. a piece of work or an exercise given to a subject in a psychological test or experiment (cf. aufgabe). me.
